About Us

Point Research Ltd is an independent research company.

The work we do includes:

  • Evaluating programmes – formative, outcome and process evaluation
  • Conducting survey research – developing, analysing questionnaires including the use of on-line surveys
  • Conducting focus groups
  • Consultation work – including community consultations
  • Project management
  • Analysing submissions – both in hard copy and online
  • Assisting Councils to develop indicators and collect data relating to community outcomes and their Long Term Council Community Plans (LTCCPs).

Our team

Alex Woodley MA (Hons equiv) – Principal Researcher
Alex lectured in Management Studies and Research Methods (post graduate) at Auckland University before forming Point Research in 1993. Since then she has been principal researcher on a number of projects. Alex specialises in project management. She has a strong background in quantitative research, evaluation research and on-line surveying.  In addition to commercial work, she specialises in social research and has worked extensively with NGOs and community groups.


Nadine Metzger MSocSc (Hons) – Principal Researcher
Nadine is a researcher and communications expert. Having trained in both qualitative and quantitative methodologies, Nadine now specialises in qualitative research. Her particular areas of research interest are social transformation initiatives, community development, youth development, and parenting. Nadine is also the designer and webmaster of the Parenting Research Clearinghouse



Freya Camburn MSc (Hons) – Researcher
Freya has ten years experience working in the local government and public sector, primarily in the areas of research, data analysis, and strategy. Freya’s experience has largely focused on social research, demographic trend analysis as well as corporate and strategic policy and planning.


Lindy Cassidy BA, DipEd. - Facilitator
Lindy has recently returned to Wellington from Sydney where she worked for the New South Wales government for over twenty years. Lindy has mainly worked in the vocational education and training sector designing, developing, implementing and evaluating programs for people in the commuity who face barriers to accessing education and employment.
Through her work Lindy has facilitated a range of groups in a diversity of forums and has managed a number of research projects. Lindy was also the chair of the board of a Sydney youth accommodation service for five years.



Diana Rands BA, CQSW- Dip ASS, PG Cert Health Studies - Interviewer & Facilitator
Diana is a trainer and facilitator in the addictions field and has been the LGBTTF (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Takataapui, Fa’afafine) project coordinator at CADS (Community Alcohol and Drug Services) Auckland for the last 8 years. Within this role she developed and has delivered the workshop Affirming Sexual Orientation and Gender Diversity nationally, as well as producing the DVD – ‘A Question of Visibility’. Diana has also written a column for the gay publication ‘Express’ over the last 4 years. Prior to working at CADS – Diana was a trainer for Thompson Powell consulting, and was a founding partner of an outdoor pursuit business ‘Wanderwomen’. She originally trained as a social worker. Diana is currently involved in developing and delivering training for the KINA Trust – which promotes Family Inclusive Practise. She is a trustee of the Inner City Women’s Group – a prevention and education organisation for stopping violence.



Megan Ware BBus - Research Assistant

Megan has extensive experience working on various IT projects in the energy, health and forestry industries. Megan has more recently provided administrative assistance with our research projects in social marketing and health including participant recruitment, conducting interviews and surveys and assisting with qualitative and quantitative analysis. In addition to her roles as research assistant Megan also holds volunteer roles with Plunket and Meals on Wheels.
