Toddler Day Out Outcome Evaluation

Project Kaikohe Evaluation
Project Kaikohe is a four-year pilot project, comprised of HIPPY, Kiwi Can, Stars and Parents Inc, conducted in Kaikohe between 2004 and 2007. The overall purpose of the evaluation was to determine what, if any, difference a collaborative approach can make in a community of need.

ARC Sustainability Framework
This document provides information on a series of identified indicators and measures designed to assess progress towards a number of long term goals in the Auckland Region. Each indicator is documented, and information on data availability, data sources and other relevant information is provided for each individual measure. The document is designed as a 'living document' able to be easily and instantly updated when new information is available.

2007

The State of Waitakere Children ’s report
A summary of the social and economic living standards of Children and Young People aged 0 to 24 in Waitakere City. One of the main purposes of the report was to provide a set of indicators with which future improvement or developments in the lives of Waitakere’s children and young people may be measured.

Evaluation of the Mental Health Foundation ‘Kia Marama/Out of the Blue” public awareness campaign
To determine the reach of the 'Kia Marama / Out of the Blue' social marketing campaign and how well the key campaign messages were understood by the key target group.

A survey of current clients of the New Resident Services division of The National Bank and preparation of a comprehensive report focussing on pre-migration decisions, pre-migration banking decisions and post-arrival banking and experience.

A guide to writing a community profile.
Compiled to assist community groups, NGOs and agencies to find out information about their local communities. The 104 page guide is based on our experience with the Northcote Project, and covers issues such as data collection, a set of baseline indicators, how to publish and the inclusion of a simple template. The guide may be downloaded free from our website.

Department of Labour: Operation Clean Yard
An assessment and report on Health and Safety practices of residential construction operations in the Counties Manukau Region and Waiheke Island. 

GSE Early Intervention Services
Administered and analysed on-line survey of Early Intervention practitioners (GSE).

Auckland Maternity Services Consultation
Compiled report from submissions to ADHB on Maternity Services in Auckland.

Organised and facilitated a series of focus groups in the Auckland area on Primary Health Services. Compiled report based on focus group feedback.

Auckland Oral Health Consultation
Organised and facilitated a series of focus groups in the Auckland area on Oral Health Services. Compiled report based on focus group feedback.

Official Statistics
Assisted in project aimed at describing and explaining variation in the usage of social (and economic) statistics (in particular, the population census but also extending to other official statistics) in New Zealand, and more specifically local/regional authorities in the Auckland region, and to indicate areas where improvement and development in possible both from SNZ and users.

Raukatauri Music Therapy Centre
Online survey and comprehensive report on Auckland Educational Service Providers and agencies in the Auckland region to determine level of awareness, and need of, Music Therapy Services. National data scan of special needs children.

2006

Toddlers Day Out
An evaluation of the Toddlers Day Out held at Waitakere City Council in 2006 and 2007.

Speech Language Therapy Review
A review of services to children and young people with communication and speech and language needs aged 0-21 (includes early intervention services, and school sector).

Quality of Life Project (12 City Councils)
Collected economic, social, housing, demographic, health and education data on the quality of life in New Zealand ’s largest cities.  This was used to produce the Quality of Life Report (published)

The purpose of this report was to provide a wide range of data about the quality of life and wellbeing in Auckland City .  The report draws on data from a wide variety of sources, and focuses broadly on the determinants of health.

Skip DVD on Positive Parenting
Researched and produced DVD on positive parenting for use in ante natal classes focusing on issues for new parents (In post production)

2004

Positive Parenting Strategies (Gravitas)
Analysed quantitative data using SPSS and Statistica for the Ministry of Social Development (MSD) on the parental use of physical discipline to guide MSD on developing effective campaign strategies (Published).
 

Waitakere City Wellbeing Project ( Waitakere City )
Collected and analysed data relating to the economy, standard of living, health, education and wellbeing of Waitakere residents.  Integrated the data, including in-depth interviews with 50 key informants, into a report (Published)

Jump Rope (National Heart Foundation)
Established a computer programme to enable the National Heart Foundation to evaluate and analyse data from their Jump Rope programme in schools.

Drug Proof Your Kids (DPYK)
Evaluation of programme designed to teach parents how to `drug proof’ their children (on-going).  Data analysed on SPSS.

Housing Strategy (Gravitas)
Analysed public submissions on the Government’s proposed 10 year Housing Strategy and wrote the report (published) for the Housing New Zealand Corporation and submitted to Cabinet.   This has formed the basis of New Zealand ’s long term housing strategy.

Community Outcomes Project ( Auckland City Council)
Analysed data from 80 focus groups and 500 public submissions using SPSS for Auckland City Council’s Long Term Community Planning Project.

Child Obesity Evaluation (Holibar Fidler)
Analysed the data from questionnaires from public health nurses, whanau and children and medical records in relation to a child obesity intervention to determine its efficacy.  Data analysed on Statistica

Staff Evaluation ( North Shore City Council)
Conducted an independent evaluation to determine how well North Shore City staff service elected members.
 

Family Violence Project (Work and Income)
Researched and wrote a policy manual for Work and Income on how to work with clients living in family violence situations and how to make safe, appropriate and timely referrals, for the new Work and Income family violence project (now adopted as national campaign).
 

2003                   

Project Kaikohe (Joint Sector)
Established the baseline data and report for a well-child intervention project in Kaikohe (on-going). Work with key agencies to improve the health and wellbeing of children involved in this pilot project.

Indicators Project (National Heart Foundation)
Collected health, social and economic indicators that the National Heart Foundations used as a basis for allocating resources at a local level.

Quality of Life Project (8 City Councils)
Collected economic, social, housing, demographic, health and education data on the quality of life in New Zealand ’s largest cities.  This was used to produce the Quality of Life Report (published)

Safekids DHB Project (Auckland District Health Board)
Researched wrote and published a document on the structure of District Health Boards and how to work effectively with your DHB

2003 - 2005         

The First Three Years (Brainwave Trust)
Researched the importance of the first three years on infant brain development, in particular in relation to family violence.  Analysed government policies and produced a range of publications and website materials.
